EnVision was retained to conduct a Geotechnical Investigation, Pavement Investigation, Assessment of Culverts, and Excess Soil Management services in accordance with O. Reg. 406/19 to support the reconstruction of a 4.4 km portion of Phillipston Road in Belleville, Ontario. Field works were conducted concurrently to support the various investigations, utilizing boreholes for multiple purposes, where possible. A total of 52 road boreholes, 48 culvert boreholes, and 14 additional excess soil specific boreholes were advanced to provide geotechnical engineering design and guidance for disposal and/or potential reuse of 20,000 m3 of excess soil.
Following award of the project, EnVision brought the stakeholders together to assist with the challenges the City was experiencing with the implementation of the new excess soil regulation. EnVision outlined the required testing frequencies, sample collection methodology, and reporting. By highlighting the challenges and proposing solutions, EnVision moved the project forward with minimal impact to scope, budget, and timeline. Our regulatory knowledge and problem-solving techniques resulted in the award of subsequent projects with the City. The team has also assisted the City with understanding and applying O. Reg. 406/19 to the preparation of future tender documents.
